TLC offers opportunity to earn while you learn

12 April 2023

The Lines Company (TLC) is offering candidates looking to grow a career in the electricity sector the opportunity to earn while they learn on the job with their pathways programme.

Hosting an information evening on Wednesday, 19 April in both Te Kūiti and Taumarunui, the team from TLC will provide attendees a host of information on their potential career journey in the electricity distribution business.

TLC’s HR manager, Jill Searancke, says they are an ideal event “for anyone looking for a career pathway in electricity or anyone who wants to work outdoors, to come along and find out more.

“Keeping the power on in the King Country is what we do, but it’s who we do the work for that is most important to us — our customers and our community.

“We encourage anyone who wants to make a difference in their community and develop their career pathway to head along. There will be a range of information and speakers there on the night to give everyone a taste for the exciting career ahead at TLC.

“They’ll also learn more about working outdoors in some of the most spectacular countryside in New Zealand, along with a raft of employee benefits such as surgical cover, accumulated sick leave, free flu vaccinations and discounts on a range of products and services,” says Searancke.

As a community owned business that has been around for close to 100 years, TLC takes pride in keeping whare, farms and businesses powered up, 24/7. This requires a skilled workforce, one that’s focused on recruiting and training locally.

TLC have a range of different career pathways and skill development programmes available for motivated local candidates. Those programmes include pathway development, worksite training, internships, and apprenticeships.

“Whether you are interested in becoming a line mechanic, technician, electrician or project manager — we’re here growing local skills and talent,” says Searancke.

The information evening begins at 6:30pm on Wednesday next week at the Waitete Rugby Football Club, Waitete Rd, Te Kūiti and at the Taumarunui Rugby and Sports Club, 39 Turaki St, Taumarunui.
