Emergency outages 16 February 2023

Today, there are a number of emergency outages as we work to further stabilise the network.

TAUMARUNUI DISTRICT & KURATAU 10am – 12noon

Due to the damage sustained at the Ongarue substation, further repairs are required. We expect to complete repairs and restore power around midday. The urgent repair work is necessary to ensure the reliability of the supply and prevent further faults from occurring.

TŪRANGI TOWN 8.30 – 10am

We’re the reconnecting connections to critical CBD businesses e.g., petrol station and accommodation providers etc. The temporary repairs done earlier in the week need to be made more permanent to ensure the lights stay on for those businesses. Power will be disconnected for the entire Tūrangi township while the work is safely carried out.

TOKAANU 10:30am – 1pm

We’re installing a new generator to supply power to the area. The existing one will be moved to the Tauranga-Taupō area providing much needed supply there.
