TLC wins the 2025 Innovation Award

The Lines Company’s (TLC) has won the Innovation Award at the 2025 Energy Excellence Awards, and the company is “fizzing” with pride at the achievement.
TLC’s game-changing use of helisaw technology to keep trees away from powerlines has earned them the Innovation Award; alongside partner Lakeview Helicopters (that own the saws).
The Innovation Award, sponsored by Are Ake, is highly coveted and TLC is thrilled to be recognised as an industry leader in innovation.
“Together with Lakeview Helicopters, we’re transforming vegetation management with helisaw technology,” said a proud Chief Executive Mike Fox. “Using saws suspended from helicopters, we’re trimming trees near power lines faster, safer and more cost-effectively than ever before.”
In rugged, remote terrain, this innovation reduces risk to arborists and ground crews, saves time and protects communities from outages and fire hazards.
“It’s a game-changer for the electricity and forestry sectors – keeping power flowing and people safe,” said Fox.
Brad Williams, CEO of Lakeview Helicopters is proud to bring this technology to New Zealand.
“It’s proven to be safe, reliable and cost-effective; transforming the way we manage trees, not just for the energy sector, but for other sectors as well,” said Williams.
TLC’s commitment to staff wellbeing also earned them a spot as a finalist for the Wellbeing Award, sponsored by Hiko Energy Insights.
Fox said, “While we didn’t win this award, we’re extremely proud of our wellbeing programme that was co-designed with staff. It provides a holistic approach to staff wellbeing that supports lifestyle, growth and community and truly redefines what it means to care.

The annual industry event recognises achievement, innovation and excellence throughout the energy sector.
