TLC is a two times finalist
5 June 2025
The Lines Company (TLC) is thrilled to announce that we have been named as finalists in two Energy Excellence award categories.
“We submitted three entries and are absolutely over the moon that two of them have made the finals,” said TLC’s Chief Executive, Mike Fox.
TLC entered two projects into the Innovation of the Year category which is sponsored by Ara Ake. One of these entries about our use of helisaw technology, jointly submitted with Lakeview Helicopters, has made it to the top three.
TLC’s use of a helisaw to better manage vegetation and keep trees off our powerlines is a game changer for the electricity sector.
“We used a helisaw – a saw blade hanging from a helicopter, for the first time in April last year; and have since used the technology five times,” said Fox. “Using a helisaw is now firmly embedded in how we work. It is a viable and cost-effective way to keep trees away from powerlines.”
Our entry into the Wellbeing Award category, sponsored by Hiko Energy Insights captures our staff wellbeing programme.
“At TLC we value lifestyle and culture, growth and development of our people, and care for people in our communities,” said Fox. “We wanted to provide a wellbeing programme that focused on our whole selves, adopting a holistic approach. We know that happy, healthy and engaged people who want to work here, will do their very best for their customers.”
The NZ Energy Excellence awards provide an opportunity to recognise excellence and achievement across the energy sector.
“The calibre of the finalists across the categories look really impressive,” said Fox. “Roll on the awards night!”
