TLC Scholarship open for applications

The Lines Company is pleased to announce that its 2025 Inspiring Local Minds Scholarship is now open for applications.

“Helping local young people realise their potential through tertiary education is important to us at The Lines Company (TLC),” said chief executive Mike Fox.

“In the past we have supported students through a range of studies from science, technology and law to commerce and marketing.”

If you’re a young person and have big dreams about tertiary study, this is your chance to be one of three to receive $6,000 over three years to support your studies.

Scholarship recipients are chosen by a selection panel that includes TLC’s chief executive and customer and community engagement manager, alongside a Trustee from TLC’s shareholder Waitomo Energy Services Customer Trust (WESCT).

Supported by WESCT, TLC introduced the Inspiring Local Minds Scholarship programme in 2018. Since inception 26 young people have been awarded scholarships. Recipients must live or go to school in TLC’s network area.

Emma Burnard, a 2022 recipient currently doing a science degree, is looking forward to giving back. “I’ve really enjoyed the environmental monitoring and justice part of my planning degree. I would love to be able to come back to where I’m from and contribute to this space.”

One of our 2023 recipients Una Drayton encourages students to apply, saying, “… don’t let the fear of failure hold you back…”.

Applications for the 2025 year close on 31 August 2024.
