Extra time given to community funding applicants

26 October 2022

The Lines Company’s (TLC) latest funding round has been extended to 18 November 2022, providing local community groups additional time to apply.

TLC is committed to providing financial support to groups across the network who are doing great work in the community – with a focus on energy efficiency or groups working with children, youth and whānau.

Ten thousand dollars in funding is up for grabs in this, the last of three community sponsorship rounds this year. To maximise the reach and effectiveness of the funding, TLC has extended their sponsorship round to close in November.

Since 2017, TLC has provided contestable sponsorship funding, with a wide range of community projects and groups sponsored, including:

  • Ōtorohanga Riding for the Disabled
  • Tūrangi Foodbank Inc
  • Community foodbanks, athletics clubs and community sporting events
  • Ōtorohanga Maori Women’s Welfare League
  • Mōkau Kohunui Marae
  • Mangakino Family Services
  • Te Kūiti Bowling Club
  • Ruapehu Kāhui Ako
  • Taumarunui & Districts Society Incorporated

TLC’s last funding round in June 2022 saw 13 successful applicants receive community funding.

One of the successful applicants, Ōtorohanga Employment Hub (Ōtorohanga District Development Board), received $1,000 to go towards the lease of an Inzone Careers Coach. The coach, containing interactive kiosks, provides visitors with informative videos on a wide variety of careers. The coach not only supports career planning for students but also for members of the public.

TLC’s fund prioritises projects or events which have high visibility, will benefit local communities, reach many people, and improve the lives of the people living within the TLC network.

Applications for our October round are currently open; to apply head to thelinescompany.co.nz/sponsorship/. Applications close on Friday, 18 November.
