Recruiting for a bright future in the electricity industry

12 February 2018

A bright future in the electricity industry is a real possibility locally with The Lines Company currently recruiting for the 2018 intake to its highly successful Trainee Line Mechanic Programme.

Spread over some two and a half years, the NZQA accredited programme covers theory as well as practical fieldwork on the network under the guidance of TLC’s operations team.  The programme leads to a New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply for the successful recruits.

“The trainee programme is a great initiative that gives locals the opportunity for a great career with us and to be part of a national power industry with many career avenues and opportunities.  There’s the added bonus of continuing to live, work and study locally,” says General Manager of Operations, Dayl Spencer.

“We pride ourselves on producing trainees that achieve top honours.  Last year’s group passed with flying colours and are now established with us as fully qualified Line Mechanics working out of Te Kūiti and Taumarunui.”

Recruitment into the programme involves an application and selection process, which includes practical assessments and other assessments.  The trainees selected need to have the right blend of skills and abilities to be successful in their role.

So if you have a head for heights and want to be considered for this exciting opportunity you’ll find the information you need on the TLC website –  thelinescompany.co.nz/careers

Applications close on Friday 2 March 2018.
