There are four key steps to get electricity to your home or business:

1. Generation – such as hydro dams or wind farms.
2. Transmission – the huge pylons that carry electricity from one end of NZ to the other.
3. Distribution – detailed networks that carry electricity from the national grid to individual homes and businesses. That’s us!
4. Retail – energy companies that sell electricity directly to consumers.

Each of these four steps is handled by different companies and the overall system is governed by legislation. TLC is an electricity distribution company (step 3) which means we own, manage and maintain the network lines which connect your home or business to the national transmission grid.
